Meet the Director & Team

Monique Cooper
When I started MCA in 2020, I had no office, no large team, and no grand resources. What I did have was a university laptop, a workspace in my lounge, and a clear vision of the kind of law firm I wanted to build.
Labour law has always been my passion. Although I began my career in 2015 in an environment where labour law was not a dedicated area of practice, I knew from the outset that this was the field in which I wanted to make a difference. I also believed that to truly serve clients effectively, I needed to understand both sides of the employment relationship. For that reason, I stepped away from practice for a period to gain experience as an employer representative. That experience provided invaluable insight into the realities faced by employers while deepening my understanding of the challenges employees encounter. Today, that balanced perspective forms the foundation of my approach to labour law.
Academically, I hold an LLB degree and a Postgraduate qualification in Labour Law, and I am currently completing my LLM thesis. Beyond practice, I am passionate about sharing knowledge and empowering others through education. I serve as a part-time lecturer and regularly facilitate labour law training across South Africa.
The vision behind MCA was never simply to create another law firm. I wanted to build a specialist labour law practice that delivers excellent legal services while creating opportunities for women in a profession that has historically been male dominated. I wanted to create a workplace that recognises and respects the many roles’ women fulfil as professionals, mothers, wives, caregivers, community leaders, and people of faith. Too often, these roles are viewed as limitations. I see them as strengths.

As a wife and mother of two, I understand the daily balancing act that many women face. I know what it means to pursue professional excellence while remaining committed to family, faith, and personal values. These experiences have shaped not only who I am as a person, but also the culture I have worked hard to build at MCA.
Building a business has not always been easy. There have been challenges, sacrifices, and moments of uncertainty. Yet whenever the road becomes difficult, I return to the reason MCA was founded in the first place: to serve people with integrity, expertise, and genuine care.
I firmly believe that every client deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their position, status, or circumstances. Whether I am assisting a senior executive, a small business owner, or an employee facing one of the most difficult moments of their career, my commitment remains the same to provide honest guidance, practical advice and solutions, and exceptional service.
The team at MCA was selected with great care and purpose. Each person shares the values upon which the firm was built and contributes to the vision we continue to pursue every day. Together, we are committed to delivering specialised labour law services while building a firm that reflects professionalism, compassion, excellence, and respect.
MCA began with a simple vision and a laptop in a lounge. Today, that vision continues to guide everything we do.

Being part of a firm that values both excellence and compassion has allowed me to develop professionally while contributing to an environment where clients feel genuinely welcomed and supported.
As one of the first people our clients meet, I understand that every interaction shapes their experience with the firm. Whether I am welcoming clients, preparing legal documents, assisting with lecture preparation, planning MCA functions, or supporting the team behind the scenes, I approach every task with professionalism, care, and attention to detail. I believe that quality service is built through consistency, reliability, and a willingness to help wherever I am needed.
I am naturally curious and enjoy learning new skills, meeting new people, and embracing opportunities that allow me to grow both personally and professionally. Working in the legal environment has strengthened my passion for serving others with empathy, patience, and understanding, particularly during what can often be challenging times in their lives.
Outside of the office, I enjoy spending quality time with my family. After a busy day, there is nothing I value more than being at home with the people who matter most. They keep me grounded, remind me of what is important, and provide the balance that allows me to bring my best to work each day.
As I continue my journey with MCA, I look forward to growing within the firm, expanding my knowledge of the legal profession, and continuing to contribute to the culture of professionalism, teamwork, and exceptional client service that defines who we are.

Kim Diedrick
I am Kim Diedrick, Accounts Manager at MCA. My journey with MCA is a little different from most. I was the firm's very first employee, working alongside our Director, Monique Cooper, during the early stages of establishing and building the practice.

Being part of MCA from the very beginning gave me a unique appreciation for the firm's values, culture, and vision. I however needed to step away and dedicate myself fully to a significant new chapter in my personal life, that of becoming a mom. I re-joined MCA in March 2025. For me, it wasn't simply returning to a workplace – it was coming home.
At the heart of what I do is ensuring the financial side of the business runs smoothly. I manage billing, fee collections, account queries, and the firm's financial obligations, making sure that the business remains healthy and sustainable. If there's a number attached to it, chances are I've had a hand in it somewhere along the line.
While my job title may revolve around numbers, my role within the firm extends beyond spreadsheets and accounts. I am often the person people come to when there is a problem to solve, a difficult client to manage, or simply when they need support. I take pride in being a steady presence in what can sometimes be a high-pressure environment. My office door is always open, whether someone needs assistance, advice, or just a sounding board.
In addition to my account’s portfolio, I work closely with Monique in managing her training portfolio and assisting with various operational responsibilities that keep the firm running behind the scenes. From troubleshooting day-to-day challenges to making sure the office is stocked with everything from stationery to groceries, I believe that no task is too small if it contributes to the success of the team.
What I bring to MCA is loyalty, reliability, a calm approach under pressure, and a genuine willingness to help others. I believe that strong relationships are just as important as strong systems, and I strive to create both.
Outside of the office, my greatest role is being a mom to my energetic five-year-old son. He keeps me busy, keeps me grounded, and is at the centre of just about everything I do. When I'm not working, you'll usually find me spending time with him, planning our next adventure, making memories, and enjoying quality time with family and friends. Good Company + Good Food = Happy Kim.
Looking ahead in the years to come, I see myself continuing to grow within the firm, taking on greater leadership responsibilities, and contributing to MCA's long-term success. I am passionate about developing both professionally and personally, and I look forward to helping shape the future of a firm that I am proud to be part of.
